Notes

We developed this after a survey of common crystal glazes, it is a middle-of-the-road base recipe (having no colorants). We used this in testing a high expansion body being developing, one that would prevent or minimize crazing that is so common in crystalline glazed ware. Since we were only testing for crazing, the appearance or crystal development were not assessed. That being said, this did develop white crystals in the transparent glass using the PLC6CR schedule. We have tested this using both calcined and raw zinc and it works well with either one. Of course, like other such glazes, this has no kaolin or clay. That means the slurry will settle unless flocculated or an organic gum is employed.
